Recommendations are based on factors such as the sensitivity of the artwork—for example, susceptibility to static buildup or fading—along with desired visual clarity, reflection control, weight, and long-term durability.
Options may include UV-filtering acrylics, Optium™ reflection control acrylic, or clear acrylic when specifically requested and appropriate for extremely light-stable media. We generally prefer acrylic due to its resistance to shattering and the added safety it provides for artwork. In certain cases, specialty glass may be more appropriate depending on the requirements of the project.
Each selection is made to balance protection and appearance without unnecessary complexity. Glazing choices are discussed during the appointment so the final selection is appropriate to both the artwork and its intended setting.
